Step-by-Step Replacement
First, remove the screws holding the old lock in place from both sides of the door. Slide the old lock out carefully. Take note of the orientation — how the latch faces and how the handle aligns.
Insert the new lock into the same position. If it's the same brand and model, it should fit perfectly. Align the latch with the strike plate on the door frame, tighten the screws, and test the operation several times.
If the new lock doesn't align with the existing holes, you may need to drill new ones. Use a template if one is included with the lock, and be careful not to crack the screen door frame.
